Windstorms here arrive fast and knock trees down at inconvenient hours. This page is deliberately short so you can submit the important details in under a minute from a phone, in the dark, in the rain.
Immediate danger, fire, or downed power lines? Call 911 and your utility first.
Do these things first
- Get people away from the tree. Loaded limbs and split trunks can shift without warning, including hours later.
- Assume any wire is live. Stay far back from lines touching a tree, and report it to 911 and your electric utility.
- Leave the structure if it is compromised. A tree through a roofline or wall is a structural and utility issue before it is a tree issue.
- Then document. From a safe distance, take photos: the tree, the point of contact, and the access route.
What makes a request genuinely urgent
- A tree or large limb already down on a house, garage, vehicle, or driveway.
- A trunk that has split, or a tree leaning noticeably more than it was yesterday.
- Freshly heaved or cracked soil at the root plate.
- A hanging limb suspended over an entry, walkway, or play area.
- A tree blocking the only way in or out of the property.
If nothing is in contact with a structure and nothing is hanging, the situation is often urgent-but-not-emergency — see storm damage or tree removal.
Set expectations honestly
Independent providers get slammed during regional storm events, and crews prioritize life-safety work. We flag urgent requests so they can be looked at first, but Sound Tree Connect does not dispatch crews and cannot promise a response time or an arrival window.
Insurance notes
